  1. Welcome to Adobe Acrobat Reader 2.0 for Windows

  3. Adobe(tm) Acrobat(tm) software gives you instant access to documents in 
  4. their original form, independent of computer platform. With the 
  5. Acrobat Reader, you can view, navigate, print and present any 
  6. Portable Document Format (PDF) file.
  7.  
  8. This Read Me file contains installation instructions and product 
  9. information for the Acrobat Reader program. The On-line Guide 
  10. (Acrobat Reader Help) also provides essential information to help 
  11. you begin using Acrobat Reader 2.0.

  13. INSTALLING ACROBAT READER
  14. =========================
  15. - To install Acrobat Reader 2.0 on your hard drive, from the 
  16.   Windows Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu; type 
  17.     [drive]:\acroread.exe 
  18. - Follow the instructions on your screen.
  19. - Installation requires approximately 2 MB of free hard disk space. 
  20.

  23. - 386- or 486-based personal computer (486 recommended)
  24. - Microsoft Windows 3.1 or greater
  25. - 4 MB application RAM

  29. KNOWN PROBLEMS
  30. ================
  31. Adobe PSPrinter 2.1.1 Driver -- You may experience problems when
  32. printing from Acrobat Reader 2.0 when using the Adobe PSPrinter
  33. 2.1.1 printer driver.  The problems occur in printing certain
  34. documents that use TrueType fonts or extended characters, such as
  35. typographic quote marks. A PSPrinter 2.1.2 update that fixes both of
  36. these problems should be available early November 1994.  The
  37. PSPrinter 2.1.2 update upgrades an installed version of PSPrinter
  38. 2.1.1 to 2.1.2 and will be available from the following sources:

  115. NOTICE TO USER:
  116. THIS IS A CONTRACT.  BY INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE BELOW, YOU ACCEPT ALL THE 
  117. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT.
  118. This Adobe Systems Incorporated ("Adobe") End User License Agreement 
  119. accompanies an Adobe software product and related explanatory written 
  120. materials ("Software"). The term "Software" shall also include any 
  121. upgrades, modified versions or updates of the Software licensed to 
  122. you by Adobe.  This copy of the Software is licensed to you as the 
  123. end user.  You must read this Agreement carefully before indicating 
  124. acceptance at the end of the text of this Agreement. If you do not 
  125. agree with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, decline where 
  126. instructed during installation, and you will not be able to use the 
  127. Software. Adobe grants to you a nonexclusive license to use the Software, 
  128. provided that you agree to the following: 
  129.  
  130. 1. Use of the Software. You may install the Software in a single location 
  131.    on a hard disk or other storage device; install and use the Software 
  132.    on a file server for use on a network for the purpose of permanent 
  133.    installation onto hard disks or other storage devices or use of the 
  134.    Software over such network; and make backup copies of the Software. 
  135.    You may make unlimited copies of the Software and give copies to other 
  136.    persons or entities as long as the copies contain this Agreement and 
  137.    the same copyright and other proprietary notices that appear on or

  140. 2. Copyright. The Software is owned by Adobe and its suppliers, and 
  141.    its structure, organization and code are the valuable trade secrets 
  142.    of Adobe and its suppliers.  The Software is also protected by 
  143.    United States Copyright Law and International Treaty provisions.  
  144.    You agree not to modify, adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, 
  145.    disassemble or otherwise attempt to discover the source code of 
  146.    the Software.  You may use trademarks only to identify printed 
  147.    output produced by the Software, in accordance with accepted 
  148.    trademark practice, including identification of trademark owner's 
  149.    name.  Such use of any trademark does not give you any rights of 
  150.    ownership in that trademark. Except as stated above, this 
  151.    Agreement does not grant you any intellectual property rights 
  152.    in the Software.

  154. 3. Transfer. You may not rent, lease, or sublicense the Software. 
  155.    You may, however, transfer all your rights to use the Software 
  156.    to another person or entity, provided that you transfer this 
  157.    Agreement with the Software.
  158.  
  159. 4. No Warranty. The Software is being delivered to you AS IS and Adobe 
  160.    makes no warranty as to its use or performance. ADOBE AND ITS 
  161.    SUPPLIERS DO NOT AND CANNOT WARRANT THE PERFORMANCE OR RESULTS 
  162.    YOU MAY OBTAIN BY USING THE SOFTWARE OR DOCUMENTATION. ADOBE AND 
  163.    ITS SUPPLIERS MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO 
  164.    NONINFRINGEMENT OF THIRD PARTY RIGHTS, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR 
  165.    ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE.  IN NO EVENT WILL ADOBE OR ITS SUPPLIERS 
  166.    BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, 
  167.    INCLUDING ANY LOST PROFITS OR LOST SAVINGS, EVEN IF AN ADOBE 
  168.    REPRESENTATIVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, 
  169.    OR FOR ANY CLAIM BY ANY THIRD PARTY.  Some states or jurisdictions 
  170.    do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental, 
  171.    consequential or special damages, or the exclusion of implied 
  172.    warranties or limitations on how long an implied warranty may 
  173.    last, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

  175. 5. Governing Law and General Provisions. This Agreement will be 
  176.    governed by the laws of the State of California U.S.A., excluding 
  177.    the application of its conflicts of law rules.  This Agreement will 
  178.    not be governed by the United Nations Convention on Contracts for 
  179.    the International Sale of Goods, the application of which is 
  180.    expressly excluded.  If any part of this Agreement is found void 
  181.    and unenforceable, it will not affect the validity of the balance 
  182.    of the Agreement, which shall remain valid and enforceable according 
  183.    to its terms.  You agree that the Software will not be shipped, 
  184.    transferred or exported into any country or used in any manner 
  185.    prohibited by the United States Export Administration Act or any 
  186.    other export laws, restrictions or regulations.  This Agreement 
  187.    shall automatically terminate upon failure by you to comply 
  188.    with its terms.  This Agreement may only be modified in writing 
  189.    signed by an authorized officer of Adobe.

  191. 6. Notice to Government End Users. If this product is acquired under 
  192.    the terms of a:  GSA contract- Use, reproduction or disclosure 
  193.    is subject to the restrictions set forth in the applicable ADP 
  194.    Schedule contract; DoD contract- Use, duplication or disclosure 
  195.    by the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in 
  196.    subparagraph (c) (1) (ii) of 252.227-7013; Civilian agency 
  197.    contract- Use, reproduction, or disclosure is subject to 
  198.    52.227-19 (a) through (d) and restrictions set forth in the 
  199.    accompanying end user agreement.  Unpublished-rights reserved 
  200.    under the copyright laws of the United States.
